If you’ve ever taken a deep breath and felt your body relax, you already know — breath is powerful. For people living with Parkinson’s, intentional breathwork can be a simple but life-changing tool. It helps calm the nervous system, improves speech and voice strength, supports balance and posture, and can even boost energy and mood.
Many of us go through our day breathing on autopilot. But when we slow down and train the breath, we activate muscles that support talking, swallowing, and movement — all things Parkinson’s can impact over time.
Why breathwork matters:
Strengthens respiratory muscles
Helps project your voice (great partner to SPEAK OUT!)
Improves focus and reduces stress
Enhances posture and core stability
Supports relaxation and sleep
Try This: 4-8 Breathing
Inhale through the nose for 4 seconds
Exhale through the mouth slowly for 8 seconds
Repeat 5 times
You can do this anytime — in the car, at the computer, before bed, or during exercise.
Breath is a free, powerful therapy we carry with us everywhere. Start with a few intentional minutes a day — your body and brain will thank you.
